Thanksgiving
The Hardy clan spent thanksgiving in Corolla again this year. We were accompanied by Drew & Tiff as well as Beth's parents. Lots of fun.

Richmond Marathon
Bert ran in his first (and only) marathon on Saturday, November 15th. It was an extreme challenge but he finished. Officially, Bert finished in 2,783rd out of about 4,200 total participants.
Bert says: "I felt pretty good for the first 12 miles or so. I started feeling bad around the 12 mile mark. I figured it would be a tough time the rest of the way. I started cramping up around the 15 mile mark. My legs started cramping and spasming. it got progressively worse until about the 20 mile mark. My legs were simply shutting down. I would have to stop and stretch quite often. I kept trying to run but I was really struggling. I was on my target pace up until about the 18 mile mark then I slowed considerably. I changed from trying for a respectable time to a real struggle just to finish"
"At the 23 mile mark, I tried to run for the cameras and my left leg just locked up. I went down and couldn't move my left foot at all. The paramedics helped me the side of the road. They gave me water, helped me stretch my calf and messaged my legs. They tried to talk me into calling it quits getting a ride back. I only had 3 miles to go so I wasn't about to quit. I got to my feet and somehow kept going."
"I plodded along at a snails pace towards the finish line. It was absolute agony. The last 6 miles took me 2 hours to finish. I looked like one of those pathetic people staggering, about to collapse that you see on TV that everyone feels sorry for....but I made it. It was truly one of the most challenging things I have done in my life and I am glad it is over!"
Bert is sore but has no significant injuries. He is recovering the day after sitting on the couch with a bloody mary watching football. He expects to be walking again in a few days!

The Boys Meet Spidy!
James, Trip and their left handed friend Seamus meet the Spider mascot at UR's homecoming game on Saturday, October 25th. Geez...with all the money UR has you would think they could afford a little higher class mascot. Also notice how Georgetown really filled the stands up on the visitor's side!
The Hardys add yet another family member
Welcome to Silver Brook - our new horse! Brook actually belongs to our neighbors, the Roths, who are moving to Toronto. Presently, we have a free lease agreement with them. If it works out for everyone - Brook is happy, and a good fit for us - then we will take her permanently. Poor Brook had a lively welcome to the Hardy pasture. Rosie was respectful of her size, but Samson was clueless and relentless. He won't be back in the pasture anytime soon! But Brook has settled into her new surroundings and seems happy. We love to look out and see her grazing in the field.
