Corolla was beautiful!

We spent a wonderful weekend at Corolla. Things are starting to warm up, although still quite windy. The Farnors came for the weekend and we all had a good time. We spent Saturday afternoon on the north beach and had a nice picnic. The kids played, built sand castles, went for walks, played in the water, etc. Then we went four-wheeling in the sand dunes. Didn't see any wild horses but did come across some poor guy whose car battery died! We gave him a jump and he led us back to the beach since we were a bit turned around! Had a nice fire on the third floor and watched a family movie that night before the storm rolled in. Finished painting one of our bedrooms and got it all put back together. Things are looking really nice. Check out more pics of the weekend.

Patio is completed!

Ross Amyx from Gardens by Design and his team completed the patio and walkway for Balseendawotter yesterday. It is centered in what will soon be a glorious garden with a view of both Bert's pond and the larger pond. Just in time for Spring and our next AAS meeting!

A busy Thursday at the Hardy Ranch

What a huge day! They poured concrete at the barn and it's really looking good. The kids had to put their handprints in it, of course, and we marked it Hardy 2008. Also, the patio/walkway by Balseendawotter is being laid. We cannot wait to break it in later with our neighbors and enjoy a cocktail (or two!).

Goochland Little League will never be the same...

The boys had their first Goochland Little League baseball (t-ball) practice last night. It was quite fun. We packed up the whole family and went over to Hidden Rock Park. The boys were measured for their uniforms and then went out to practice fielding ground balls and learning the different positions. Turns out James is quite good at fielding ground balls and throwing. And Trip had a good turn at bat. The boys had to take a time out to go to the potty during practice. Trippy had to take a second trip to the potty after he told the coach he had to go poopy. In the potty, Master asked him if he could wipe himself. Trip said, "Why don't you do it...I am not very good at it." It was quite entertaining too when one of the "locals" came walking by with a pet goat on a leash. Memorable evening!

Check out the progress on our barn project! Stuart and his crew are making great progress every day. Some of the electrical and plumbing work will begin this week and we hope to be pouring concrete by the end of the week.

Yes they are making good progress framing it. It looks almost as good as one of Bert's sheds...

Barn construction - day 1!

Well, it's finally happening - barn construction is underway. Stuart Smith and his crew drove and set the poles on Friday. We can now see exactly where the stalls will be, the center aisle, the tack room and the lean-to. We will take pictures of the daily progress and post them under our "Picture this..." section.

The barn will mimic the house colors - ivory with white trim, and a green metal roof. Guess we'll have to get started on fencing in the pasture and start looking for horses! Keep your fingers crossed for good weather, nice neighbors and a dedicated crew.
